Biography:
I've lived in Texas my whole life and in Austin the last 6 years. I moved here for the sole reason of playing music for a living and I'm finally doing just that. I started a band called Long Time Comin with my friends Marcos Galvan and Hal Vorpahl in 2001. We played lots of shows in Austin and other texas cities and had a great time but never put out an album. The band dissolved in 2005 but we all remained friends. I reformed the band in early 2006 with Marcos and began playing live shows in Austin again. LTC quickly put out a new 5 song EP called "Good Mornin Blues". Enough new music was written in the early part of 2006 to make a full length album. The new music can be heard at www.myspace.com/brianbayermusic and the album will be released indie style sometime in august. It will be for sale on cdbaby.com and itunes.com and other sites and at shows...of course.
The new lineup is Brian Bayer handling vocals and guitar, Marcos Galvan on drums and Monte Peck playing bass. Please enjoy the free downloads here and be sure to look for the next Long Time Comin show! The old LTC website is has been updated since the band reformed this year, see it at www.longtimecomin.com.
Brian Bayer's biography:
Brian Bayer has long had a love for music. He first learned how to read music and play the piano at the age of ten. This early schooling proved very useful when he began playing the guitar at 21 years old. He made fast progress on the instrument and initially had a huge passion for thrash and heavy metal such as Metallica, Megadeth, and Pantera. The rhythm guitar stylings of James Hetfield and Dave Mustaine he considered the best and the judgement by which all other guitar metal players were weighed. He tried his hand at writing his own rock and metal music but never thought of singing or writing lyrics much. That would come later.
At the age of 22 Brian left Houston, Texas and moved to Austin for the sole reason of growing as a musician and writing music. Once in Austin he developed a deep love for the blues. Heavy music and blues seemed to naturally combine and Long Time Comin'was formed in 2002. The band featured Marcos Galvan on drums, Hal Vorpahl on vocals, Monte Peck on bass and Brian Bayer on guitar. As a three piece (after Hal picked up bass and vocals)the band cranked out a dozen or so songs that were pure texas rock n roll. They disbanded a few years later with each member going their seperate ways. There are still downloads available at www.Longtimecomin.com. Brian and Marcos continued to play some gigs here and there afterward. A time later Brian hooked up with Amber Parker(Bass) and her husband Trent Parker(Drums) and a new three piece was formed. Amber and Trent brought a loud but surprisingly refined blues sound to the music. Jokingly called Brian Bayer and the Bad News they played Brian's new numbers like "Two days in Heaven" and "Quittin Addictions" and some blues and Hendrix covers. Around January of 2006 Long Time Comin was offically reformed and the rest will soon be history...
